…to live like an Italian.
And this, befittingly, is exactly what you will do when you travel to Italy with Virginia Jeeves, editor of La Vita, on one of her bespoke tours of Italy.
Growing up in an Italian household, Virginia was always spoken to in ‘la bella lingua’, the beautiful language, by her late mother, Maria Rosa, and her father, Mattie; and when Virginia had her own children, Marco Dante and Bianca Rosa, the tradition continued.
With her fluency in the language, and her innate understanding of all things Italian, Virginia is well-qualified to show you an Italy that is often not experienced by travellers to this stunning country.
Virginia’s tours are intimate affairs, with only a handful of travellers going on each tour. They are focused on culinary delights, local culture, and friendships. Travellers meet the real people, people who effuse a sense of timelessness acquired from living in the same village for their entire lives.
Starting in Rome then heading to the South of Italy and winding northward, let Virginia unveil to you the hidden gems of the Amalfi Coast – the gardens of Ravelo, the picturesque ‘villagio’ of Positano, the charms of Sorrento. Stay in Virginia’s family’s village, Marina della Lobra, over which lies the captivating settlement of Massa Lubrense, famous for its cuisine, where, Virginia says, it would be impolite to not stop and say ‘hello’ to Mattie and Salvatore who own the local hair salon.
Walking down the steps from Massa Lubrense to the Marina, stop and chat with Zio and Zia (Uncle and Aunty) Tonnino, who will embrace you as their own.
The perfect ending to your tour is a visit to the enchanting town of San Gimignano, where the day begins and ends with music and laughter. As the shutters open in the morning, and the smell of coffee wafts through the air, the calls of ‘bon journo’ and the sound of your footsteps echoing in the cobblestone alleyways will have you feeling like you have stepped into a storybook.
If you are ready to ‘vivere come un italiano’, and along the way fall in love with the Italy of Virginia’s heritage, let her show you the treasures of this country she knows so well.

Meet my new Italian family, my ‘famiglia’ what can I say I am lost for words. This trip was more than I ever expected. A dream come true! We got to meet the locals and Virginia’s family welcomed us with open arms. The Mayor of Italy I called her!
Thank you Virginia you did an amazing job. I experienced things that I never expected to and can’t wait to go back with you again one day!Janie
LLoyd and I were looking for a genuine Italian experience and we couldn’t have asked for more. We not only got to dine on all the delicious local food and the traditional Lemoncello but the tour was balanced out with learning some history, shopping and free time to do your own thing. The tour group was a perfect size so that Virginia could give us all such wonderful care and attention and make us all feel special.Lloyd and Heather
We were lucky enough to join Virginia’s Italian Food and Wine Tour. A trip of a lifetime! Authentic Italian experience with the tour leader of all the tour leaders. Virginia and her amazing Italian family made us feel part of their la famigla. We were exposed to the best food, wine, people and places. The tour was more intimate than most tours. We were without time pressures, had all the flexibility you could want, and not the headaches of trying to navigate, translate and travel on your own. Andy and I highly recommend doing a tour with Cucina Amore. Virginia will have you in fits of laughter and bend over backwards to ensure you have nothing but love and lust for Italy.Amy and Andy
