They make the perfect gift for Christmas!
Ingredients
4 cups self-raising flour 1 tsp baking soda 5 Tbsp ground ginger 21/2 cups brown sugar 300g butter, cubed 2 eggs, beaten 5 Tbsp Golden Syrup
Candy sticks
Some white candy – you can use marshmallows for the eyes and some liquorish.
Some red pebbles
Ginger bread cutter
Baking paper
Plastic bags for gifts, with red ribbons
Method
Preheat oven to 180°C bake
Line four two baking trays with baking paper.
Melt butter in the pan remove from stove top and mix in all the ingredients.
Knead the dough on the bench - you might need to add more flour if too sticky.
Make sure an adult is helping you as the dough can be hot!
Once combined, make a roll and cover with glad wrap
Place in the fridge for 30 minutes.
Remove from fridge and roll dough onto a floured surface.
Making the dough about 5mm thick.
Cut out the ginger bread shapes.
Place on a tray with baking paper and bake for 8-10 minutes.
Decorate with your favourite icing, allow to dry, then pop them in some plastic gift bags!
