Here's my easy homemade sausage roll recipe!

Ingredients

500g sausage meat

1 medium carrot, grated

1 onion greated

2 tabelspoons of  breadcrumbs

1–2 teaspoons fresh sage, finely chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried sage)

Don't forget Dazza's tomato sauce or BBQ sauce approx 3 tabelspoons!

Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

2-3 sheets flaky puff pastry (the cheat's way! )

1 egg, lightly beaten (for the egg wash)

Method

Preheat your oven to 175°C.

Line a baking tray with baking paper.

Mix together the sausage meat, grated carrot, breadcrumbs, sage, tomato or BBQ sauce, and a good grind of black pepper.

Cut each sheet of pastry in half.

Roll the sausage mixture into four long logs and place one along each strip of pastry.

Roll the pastry over the filling, sealing the edge with a little egg wash.

Brush the tops generously with the remaining egg wash.

Cut into your preferred size.

Bake for12–15 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through, turning the tray halfway if needed for an even golden finish.

Top Tip: Get the prosecco ready before they go into the oven… they take a little while to bake, so you may as well enjoy a glass while you wait!

Perfect for rugby nights, entertaining friends, lunchboxes, or freeze them (if you've used fresh ingredients) for an easy meal another day.

Enjoy!
