I'm going to let you all in on a little secret...
Many of you have seen my Ginger Slice and thank you so much for all the lovely feedback!
This recipe uses exactly the same delicious base, just without the powdered ginger.
It's one of those slices that everyone asks for!
Base 2 cups brown sugar
2 cups flour
2 cups desiccated coconut
225g butter, melted
Mix all the ingredients together until well combined.
Press firmly into a lined oven tray.
Bake at 180°C for approximately 17 minutes, or until the base is lightly golden.
Topping Once the base is baked, remove it from the oven and sprinkle over, in this order:
½ cup dried apricots, chopped
1 small packet walnuts, roughly chopped, or almonds
1 cup chocolate pieces
½ cup desiccated coconut
Finally,
drizzle 1 can of sweetened condensed milk evenly over the top.
Return the slice to the oven and bake until the topping is beautifully golden.
Allow to cool completely before slicing.
This slice is rich, chewy, crunchy, and absolutely delicious.
We call it The Slice of Delight… and once you've tried it, you'll understand why!
